Ryan McJilton, M.S., P.E.
President | Principal Civil Consulting Engineer
Ryan McJilton is the Firm's President and Professional Engineer in Responsible Charge of all design work. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering ('18) from Kennesaw State University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering ('22) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ryan is a Licensed Professional Engineer (Civil) in AZ, CO, GA, IA, ID, IL, KY, MI, MS, NC, OR, TN, TX, UT, WA, & WI.​​
Ryan McJilton has 15 years of experience in the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry. He started out in the industry as a Heavy Equipment Operator on Environmental Site Remediation projects. While Ryan was a Grading Superintendent, he witnessed an engineering failure that inspired him to pursue an Engineering Degree. He worked as a Design Engineer on commercial building and public transportation projects for several years after obtaining his B.S. in Civil Engineering. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and become a Licensed Professional Engineer.

Ryan brings a rare and valuable combination of skills to projects because he has both design and construction experience. Having worked as a Project Manager and Estimator on Heavy Civil Construction projects, he understands very well the costs, constraints, and means and methods required to build a job. Ryan draws on this experience when designing projects in an attempt to streamline construction and minimize labor and material costs.
The "Grunt" in Grunt Engineering, PLLC is derived from Ryan's time serving in the United States Marine Corps Infantry. His service included a combat deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan during the peak of Operation Enduring Freedom ('09). Ryan naturally gravitated to Construction because of the parallels between the "Grunts" on the front lines in war and the the "Grunts" of the Trades that build America and keep it moving. His passion is the interface of projects where design and construction meet.

Michael McJilton, P.E.
Senior Environmental Consulting Engineer
Mike McJilton has more than 40 years of experience in environmental and water resources engineering and environmental site remediation. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from The University of Michigan and a Master's of Business Administration from Northwestern University. Mike is a Licensed Professional Engineer in IL, GA, and AL.
